Using: disinfection and clean (together) of medical-purpose items (including flexible endoscopes), instruments, surfaces, equipment, glass objects, blood disinfection in patient-care prophylactic institutions, laboratories, at blood transfusion stations etc.
Composition of the disinfectant: balanced stable mixture of peroxide compounds (kalium peroxisulphate50 %), surfactants of organic acids and nonorganic buffer system (stabilizer).
Consistency and specialty: gray or pink powder, well water soluble. Produces strong oxidizing effect based on peroxide system and surfactants. Solution possesses washing properties, incorrodiable (if the disinfection time is complied with), does not make colors fade from fabric.
Microbiological activity of the disinfectant: possesses antimicrobial activity in regard to gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria (except mycobacterium of tuberculosis), viruses (including HIV, HBV, Herpes, polio virus, oral viruses, enteroviruses etc.), Candida fungi, dermatophytiae.
Toxicity: as per COST 12.1.007-76 the disinfectant belongs to the 3rd class of mild-hazard substances in case of getting into stomach and to the 4th class when it is put onto skin. The powder causes local irritation of skin and mucous membranes.
Using: 1% solution of Virikon (1 50 g package per 2,5 L. of water) is used for disinfection of medical-purpose items, instruments, endoscopes, surfaces without body liquid and extraction dirtying. Disinfection time – 10 minutes. Paper towels, soaked in Virikon solution are used for disinfection of surfaces with body liquids. In this case the quantity of the solution should be not less than the quantity of poured body liquid.
