Gigasept Instr AF (Lezitol AF)
Produced: <Shulke and Mayr, GmbH.> (Germany).
Using: for disinfection, also combined with pre-sterilization clean of medical-purpose items (including medical instruments to flexible endoscopes) in patient-care and prophylactic institutions.
Composition: active substances: 14,0% coco-nutpropylendiaminguanidine diacetate; 35% phenoxipropanol and 2,5% benzalkone chloride.
Consistence and specialty: transparent liquid of green color with specific smell, pH – 8,4+0,3. The disinfectant possesses washing properties. Does not cause corrosion to metal items.
Microbiological activity: the disinfectant is active against viruses, bacteria (including tuberculosis) and fungi.
Toxicity: as per classification of ways of affecting the organism according to COST 12.1.007-76 it belongs to the 3rd class of mild-hazard substances in case of introducing into the stomach and to the 4th class of low-hazard substances in case of putting onto the skin and inhalation as vapor; causes moderate local irritation to the skin and obvious – to the mucous membrane of the eye; does not produce sensitizing effect. Working solutions in case of repeated actions cause skin dryness.
Using: disinfection of medical-purpose items, also combined with pre-sterilization clean, should be performed in plastic or enameled (without enamel damage) containers, to be occluded with covers in accordance with procedures advised in recommendation tables. The items should be immersed into working solution right after their use not letting stains on them get dry. Channels and cavities of the items should be filled with use of subsidiary instruments (droppers, syringes) with solution avoiding air-lock production; detachable items should be immersed dismantled. Items with locking parts should be opened before immersion and a few working hand movements should be made in the solution for better penetration of the solution into the locations, which are difficult to access. After disinfection the items should be taken out of solution and rinsed with warm running drinking water within at least 1 min. or consecutively washed in two containers with warm water within 2,5 min in each.
Packaging: plastic vials of 2 L., jerry cans of 5 L. and barrels of 200 L.
Storage life: concentrate – 3 years, working solutions – 7 days.
Storage terms: usual.
Specialty and notes: during immersing items in working solutions, disinfection is provided in case of viral, bacterial (including tuberculosis) and fungal infections. For disinfection of medical-purpose items incuding that combined with pre-sterilization clean, working solutions can be used many times (within their storage life) if their appearance does not change. When first signs of change appear (change of color, turbidity etc.) the solution should be replaced.
